How to Call in Your Claim
Filing your claim is the first step in the insurance process. For many policyholders, this is their first experience using homeowner’s or renter’s insurance. Review our guide below to understand what to expect before you call.

Before You Call
Reporting a claim can be a very fast and easy process. Just make sure you have some of your basic information ready to ensure a smooth process!
- Locate your insurance policy document with your policy number
- Document the damage with photos and videos
- Determine if any of your belongings or items are affected
- Have your contact information ready
- Note the date and cause of the damage
- If you have called a plumber / roofer, try to obtain their report. If you do not have these yet, don't let it stop you from calling your claim in. Just know that your insurance (and contractor) will want to see this report once you have it.
Making the Call
Now that you've gathered your information, you are ready to contact your insurance company.
- Call your insurance company's claims hotline (usually available 24/7 and listed on your policy or insurance card.
- Provide your policy number and personal identification information
- Explain what happened clearly and concisely:
- "I have water damage in my living room and back bedroom. I had a plumber come and diagnose the problem as a burst pipe in the ceiling."
- "My [finished/unfinished] basement flooded from the toilet. The water is dirty."
- Be prepared to answer questions about when and how the damage occurred
- Follow the representative's instructions for next steps
During the Call
Here is some information we recommend you get while you have them on the phone.
- Ask about your deductible amount
- Inqire about emergency repairs if needed
- Write down your claim reference number
- Ask for the timeline of the claims process
- Get contact information for your assigned claims adjuster. This may not be possible if the adjuster isn't assigned immediately. You will want your adjuster's:
- Name
- Email address
- Direct phone number and/or extension
- If you would like Rescue Titan Restoration to coordinate with your insurance directly, this phone call is also a good oppertunity to authorize your insurance to speak with us. They may as for some information:

After
You've completed the first step of the process! Rescue Titan Restoration is happy to take care of the bulk of communications from here - but we encourage you to continue to be proactive with your claim. Your insurance will always be required to communicate with you as the customer.
- Follow up with any requested documentation. Rescue Titan Restoration will be happy to send you anything we have as well.
- Keep records of all communications
- Save receipts for any emergency repairs
- Prepare for an adjuster visit if required
- Don't make permanent repairs until authorized
